Kobold Physiology

Kobolds are diminutive bipeds. While appearing to be reptiles they are actually warm-blooded creatures, thus explaining their wide variety of environments they may be witnessed in. They are symmetrical wit a pair of arms, legs, eyes, and ears. They have a semi-pensile tail that is used mostly to provide balance and stability. Kobolds run in height from approximately three feet to almost four feet and range thirty to forty pounds.

There head looks something like a scaly dogs head. They have a pair of eyes, and ears. The ears tend to be a bit dog like ad can rotate to hear better. Their eyes are position similar to humans allowing them good depth perception. They eyes themselves have a tri-slit in the iris. This allows them to really open the iris in dark conditions. This is also a hindrance since it lets a lot of light in. They suffer in bright lights. On the top of their head is a very small pair of horns. The horns are rounded and are of little use now, though at one time in distant past been used for combat. They have a large mouth and a very large number of teeth. Those in the front are sharp used for tearing those in the back tend to be flat used for grinding.

Males and Females seem to be impossible to differentiate to outsiders when clothed. Since Kobolds are egg layers they lack any sort of mamilary gland. The kobolds lay clutches of one to three eggs. The eggs then require 3 months to develop then hatch young. Young kobolds are immediately put on a diet similar too adult Kobolds. Kobolds mature very quickly. They reach maturity at the age of 12 and can live to be 110 years old.

Kobold diet consist of whatever they can get their hands on. They are omnivorous with the ability to eat some carrion. They prefer actual fresh food but can survive on almost anything. They require about 1/3 as much as the normal human. They can digest plant material a little better than humans. It has been suggested that they eat sentient beings. While this may be true in some limited cases, it is not a general rule. Eating a sentient generally will only happen if there is no other option.

Kobolds are not oriented to a regular sleep cycle. They tend to work better with a series of short naps. They tend to be what most humans would consider to be hyper-active. They tend to very active, and keep erratic schedules.
